Your private driver will pick you up at 8:00 am from your hotel in Rome.  We will make the journey taking about 2 hours to arrive at Assisi and your scheduled returned back to your destination will be 5.00pm.

SANTA MARIA OF THE ANGELS

The first stop is the Baroque Basilica Santa Maria degli Angeli, where you will visit the first of two chapels, firstly the Portiuncula Chapel where St Francis of Assisi died on October 3, 1226 San Francisco.

ASSISI

Our next stop is the Basilica di San Francesco, also known as the Upper Basilica and lower Basilica.  Here you will find the tomb of St. Francis, where the walls are decorated by the famous painters of the late Middle Ages; Cimabue, Giotto, Simone Martini and Pietro lorenzetti.

Let's stop in Assisi for a delicious lunch in one of the many trattorias, and then we continue to visit the church of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva in the main square.

We have now reached the clear Basilica of Santa, here is preserved the her body and exposed her body visible to all pilgrims, whose face is covered by a thin layer of wax.

Here you can also see the clothes of St. Francis and St. Clear and the strands of the holy hair that were cut when she became a nun.

The church and the convent of San Damiano are located just outside Assisi, where St. Francis received his vocation in 1205 and died here in 1253 Santa Chiara.
Thus ends our tour of Assisi and then we return back to Rome.

you have visited the eternal city of Rome, we would thoroughly recommend an exciting tour through the magnificent Tuscan countryside, to visit the cities of Arezzo and Cortona.
